The 3 seater- propeller driven- 1913 Thor pacer bicycle mated to a Henderson motorcycle engine with a propeller

Strange arrangement of controls... why the rider in the back gets to adjust the speed, but can't see if the bike and riders are likely to run into anything... that doesn't seem like the best idea.

Look close at the chain, it's the only one I've seen like it. I wonder why they thought this double roller type would be better than a single link and roller

  1. Makes sense, it runs just like our economy....Congress in the back, the bureaucrats in the middle and us in the front seat, watching the wall coming at us with no way to stop...

  2. the reason why the rider in back makes the speed adjustment is this bike was most likely built to pace a racing cyclist and the person in back could better hear and see the rider to know if he needed to give it more "bunny". motorcycle brethren need to know the advancement of the motorcycle has a LOT to do with bicycle racing and people who shout at me to get off the road need to realise their wouldnt be paved roads without bicycles.

  4. I saw it last night at our monthly Encinitas 101 Classic Car event.

Definitely unique! It was next to an equally one-off steam powered bicycle.
