  1. I may be wrong, but that appears to be an intermodal container on a step deck flatbed trailer. Why woud they do that?

    1. your terms aren't familiar to me, so I can't answer. Looks like a typical shipping container on a flatbed. So, what's wrong? How would you deliver a shipping container? It's a self contained shop for building and displaying.

  2. They have special running gears specifically for containers, consisting of not much more than a frame, suspension, and wheels. When a container is on one, it appears much more like a regular van trailer rather than a container sitting on a flatbed. Here's a comparison of standard van trailer and a shipping container on a running gear:

Containers are almost always transported on running gears designed specifically for them. The picture in your post is the only time I can remember seeing one being transported on a flatbed. The step deck trailer would gain some head room. Maybe this container had to go under some low bridges or other obstetrical where overhead clearance was an issue.

    1. now I see what you mean by step bed... goose neck type two level to hitch to the semi tractor... and intermodal... meaning shipping container I think... and I can only guess so they can ship it easily to overseas countries for display and marketing... also, shipping containers are cheaper than 53 foot tractor trailers I bet. No axels, no DOT compliance.
