pretty unusual, a Jeep Wagoneer panel fire truck

  1. Regarding this Jeep panel van, I think I might know its back story. I spent many years in the U.S.Army Reserve, in a specialized Psychological Operations unit here in Minnesota. We had a fleet of 1969 Jeep Wagoneer panel vans outfitted to be mobile sound and other media trucks. They had AC generators, three speed column stick shifts, 4 wheel drive, the roof platform as shown above, with the flood lights front and rear, and we carried portable movie screens, a table and a projector which we could erect on the roof platform and project movies on to the portable screen or a building. They also came with a couple of really big horn loudspeakers, for public address purposes. I think this pictured unit here may well be one of those rigs, likely handed down by the Army to a state, which then made them available to fire or police departments as Army surplus. Can anybody confirm this?
